Jennifer Hooten Founder & Principal, (Re) Engage Consulting
Jennifer Hooten is an organizational consultant committed to developing thriving individuals, teams and organizations. With 15 years inside complex and often-entrenched organizations, she has experienced the impact of high functioning organizations and also worked in dysfunctional environments to help shape them into more effective and enjoyable places to work.
Leadership: Jenn has held positions of leadership at Yale University and the Claremont Colleges, among others, where she oversaw various departmental units and led cross-functional teams. Over the course of her career, she was accountable for the generation and management of millions of dollars in annual revenue. Jenn also served on a multi-year institutional planning team for a $50 million infusement of operational capital that resulted in the start-up of Claremont Lincoln University.
During these years she also assisted individuals as they sought clarity and direction in their professional and personal lives, serving as a mentor for new professionals as they entered and advanced in the workplace. She quickly gained a reputation as a leader of results-driven, high-performing teams with an emphasis on systems effectiveness, individual development, and compassionate organizational cultures.
Facilitation: Jenn's facilitation skills are versatile, working skillfully in small groups and large public settings alike. While serving as the public face of many of her organizations, she was also called upon to lead sensitive internal conversations around issues like power dynamics, equality, religious expression and ethics in the workplace. Her sincere and engaging approach was also put to use at Claremont Lincoln University, where she was tapped to interview Trader Joe's CEO Dan Bane [watch video] as well as Dr. Jerry Campbell, founding president of the University.
Compassion: Her work is uniquely fueled by a commitment to bring compassion unapologetically into the workplace. As Program Director for the Center for Engaged Compassion, she led the development of a Certified Facilitator training program for those desiring to teach the Compassion Practice to others. She also has been engaged in the Charter for Compassionand led successful efforts to establish Claremont Lincoln University as a Compassionate University. As both participant and one of the first Certified Facilitators of the Compassion Practice, she brings a unique perspective and understanding of how compassion is formed, adapted, and applied in organizational contexts.
Jenn holds an M.A. in Ethical Leadership from Claremont Lincoln University and a B.A. in Psychology from Taylor University. Though she works with clients nationwide, she and her husband live among the vineyards on the Central Coast of California, between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
